Is it allowed to sell souvenir conch shells taken from Belizean waters at a street stall in Belize City?

Last updated on October 10, 2025

NO. Belize’s Fisheries Department regulates Queen Conch through size limits, closed seasons and permit conditions and the Fisheries Regulations and guidance make possession, sale or export of conch outside legal conditions an offence. The Fisheries Department provides the list of regulated species, harvest controls and permit procedures that sellers and buyers must follow, so hawking unpermitted conch shells at a street stall would violate fisheries law and conservation controls.
