Is it allowed to enter Venice without paying an access fee in 2024?

Last updated on October 5, 2025

NO. Starting April 25, 2024, Venice introduced a €5 access fee for day-trippers entering the historic city between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM on designated high-traffic days. Overnight visitors are exempt but must register for a QR code. The fee aims to curb overtourism and fund infrastructure improvements. Fines for non-payment range from €50 to €300.
